Our much-loved 1940s weekend has been incorporated into this event and with everything from wartime aircraft, special flypasts, Forties’ music and dancing, military uniforms, Vintage Marks and special performances, spread over 13 areas of the city, we’re giving people a quick guide to what’s happening where:

If you miss the magnificent RAF100 celebrations and flypast by 100 aircraft in London during the RAF100 Centenary celebrations, you can still enjoy it – thanks to an Augmented Reality app. University of Lincoln lecturers and students worked with the RAF and a Bedfordshire company to create it.
“All people need to do is download the App to their smartphone or tablet – using one of the following links – and they can enjoy the flypast as often as they like!,” said Mr Armstrong. During Lincoln’s RAF100 Weekend people can also explore a pop-up Vintage Village at The Lawn in Union Road, which is a “first” for our traditional 1940s weekend.
Children will be able to enjoy fun rides and watch Punch & Judy. The Little Pottery is inviting people to “have a go” at painting ceramics and the re-enactment group Echoes of a Gilded Age will also be on site, bringing the early days of the RAF to life. The film The Night Watch will also be showing in The Blue Room at The Lawn at 2pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.
Other weekend attractions include a replica (sit in) model of a Red Arrows Hawk Jet at St Marks. Lincs FM will be playing sounds from the 1940s from a stage in City Square. The south High Street will be packed with heritage and charity stalls and there will RAF and Fire Engine display on the Brayford Waterfront.
Don’t forget to make time for tea – by joining RAF Veterans in Lincoln High Street and St Benedict’s Church and Garden for the Brew For the Few street party on Sunday, from 11am to 3pm. And Saturday night there’s an unmissable fireworks display on the Brayford Waterfront from about 9pm.
Anyone who wants to get around easily and also visit the International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) on Canwick Hill, just south of the city’s boundary, might want to try the city’s Park n’ Ride services.
People can park at Waitrose, off Nettleham Road and travel down into the city, dropping off at Lincoln Cathedral – for the uphill attractions – or ride on to the city’s Broadgate Bus Station
There is also a Park & Rid at the IBCC running to and from the city’s Bus Station. Download the timetable online – buses leave frequently across the day – around every 15 minutes. Please see: www.visitlincoln.com/RAF100
